Get to Know Brother Tim Whalen

Brother Whalen received Christ as his Savior in the US NAVY while serving aboard a destroyer the U.S.S. Cook FF-1083. He trained as an electronics technician and was an electronics instructor for three years. He left the NAVY after serving for ten years and trained for a different kind of warfare; a spiritual warfare at a Bible college in Florida. It was at college that he met Cathy, his future wife. She graduated as Valedictorian and Brother Whalen received top honors in the preaching conference at his graduation ceremony. He loves to memorize and meditate on the Bible. He was asked to quote from memory the book of Galatians before the student body and received a partial scholarship for this.

Tim Whalen has been the pastor of Bible Baptist Church for over twenty-six years and is married to the wonderful Cathy Dale Whalen. They have been blessed with Timothy James II and Stephanie Nicole. Tim and Cathy are truly making a difference as foster parents. They have fostered twenty-six children and have seven at home right now. Six of these children have been adopted and other families have caught the vision and are now fostering.

The church has a faith-based addiction program, Reformers Unanimous, which has met weekly for ten years both at the church and in the local county jail. America is experiencing an opioid epidemic. Through high school and into his service in the NAVY, Brother Whalen had struggled with addiction and can relate to the problems that addicts face today. But through a personal relationship with the Lord, he was set free from his addictions. He has served in the state prison system for over seventeen years, holding a weekly Bible study and preaching revivals with the Rock Of Ages prison ministry.

Pastor Whalen has been published in Revival Fires!, “When The World Says Dance!” He is also a regular contributor to the monthly devotional book Call To Glory. His church has a love for and actively supports missions around the world, currently supporting twenty-four missions groups. He has been asked to preach overseas in the Philippine Islands, in India for Bible conferences that exceeded over a thousand in attendance. He was asked to preach at Berean Baptist college in Bangalore and was asked to teach national pastors in Mumbai for a week.

He is currently doing studies to obtain a Masters degree in counseling from Harvest Baptist College. His goals are to publish materials that encourage a deeper walk of prayer for the believer, help people to overcome addictions through the power of the gospel, and to challenge families in the local church to become foster parents.
